About us

Graham Hanks art is a one man business working from a small premises. I have many years experience of professional art and model making, having worked as a freelance sculptor to many of the top games companies in the 80's, and in later years as a portrait artist and private art tutor. Although I have always been fascinated by the Titanic and that whole era of great steam ships (and steam powered vehicles in general such as steam trains and traction engines), it was not until about Two years ago that I began to research the titanic. I think I can confidently say that I now have an extensive knowledge of the inner workings of the Titanic and its engines. As a compulsive perfectionist I strive to make my Titanic components as detailed and realistic as possible, even at scales as small as 1/700. My aim being to provide model makers with the best aftermarket parts at a reasonable price regardless of scale.

A legacy of excellence in detail

I spent two years full time at art college in the early eighties learning scientific and engineering illustration, learning how to do cutaway drawings of subjects as diverse as steam trains, engines and WW2 aeroplanes. I graduated with distinctions before moving on to professional sculpting.

Sculpting in super high detail

Possibly my most challenging project was creating an accurate reproduction of the Lord Mayors coach in London. This project required me to sculpt every single inch of the coach, all the way down to the miniature cherubs. This was before computers and resin printers took over, so every detail had to be sculpted by hand using polymer clays. The entire coach was about 6 inches high when assembled. Now of course all my parts are designed in 3D software and printed using high resolution resin printers.
